Our Mission.Grace House exists to provide women, regardless of their socio-economic situation, an opportunity to seek recovery from their addiction to drugs and alcohol through following the teachings of Jesus Christ and his reconciling love for all.

We believe that working the 12 steps and developing a network of sober women are the keys to sustaining recovery and achieving success. The day you arrive you will be required to attend recovery meetings daily and begin working with a sponsor immediately. Honesty, open-mindedness, and willingness are all that is needed to make a beginning. You will also meet weekly with our addiction counselor who will guide and support you throughout your time in our program.

Jesus is the center of our ministry. Through weekly bible study and active church involvement, you will have the opportunity to grow in your relationship with Christ or meet Him for the first time. If you are skeptical, unsure, or even angry at God we will meet you where you are without judgement. You will be paired up with your own spiritual mentor who will meet weekly with you to answer questions, guide you in your faith, or will just be your friend.

We believe that learning how to be self sufficient is a vital part of living a sober life. In active addiction, we depend on others to provide what we need and to take care of our messes. Once you arrive at Grace House, you will get a full time job and pay your own way through our program. 100% of our residents all have gotten jobs within the first 30 days of being here. You will too!

We are a family at Grace House which means we work together. We help each other to grow in our faith and recovery by holding one another accountable. Through relationships with your roommates and our staff, you will have the accountability you need to build integrity and live an honest life that you can be proud of. No more secrets! Our house is generously supported by numerous individuals and organizations in Glynn county and beyond through financial contributions or direct donations. Giving back to our community is an important part of our program at Grace House. Through weekly volunteering, our residents give of their time and service to helping others in need within our area.

We do have rules at Grace House. They are set up to keep the house a safe place for you and your roommates. We remove distractions to allow the focus needed to work on yourself and your recovery. When you arrive, we will sit down with you and make sure the structure and rules of the program are clearly explained. If the rules are broken, there will be consequences and at times, depending on the the circumstances, could result in dismissal from the program.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does it cost?
The cost to reserve a bed is $800. This fee will cover your first month's rent and is to be paid in full. During your first month at Grace House, you will find a full time job and begin working. All of our residents find a job in the first 30 days. At the beginning of your second month, you will begin paying $180/week in rent. At that time you are not to ask your family for any financial assistance for anything. You will have all you need and will be required to pay your own way at this point.
What does rent cover?
Your rent covers room & board, food, transportation, AA & Bible study literature, in house counseling, most toiletries, towels, linens, and all program expenses. Once your rent is paid each week, you are encouraged to save your money. You will not be allowed to spend your money frivolously. Fast food, getting your nails done, shopping, or ordering online are NOT permitted while you are here. If you have a specific need for toiletries or clothing, you can speak with a staff member.
What if I am on medication?
Most medications are not allowed here. If you are prescribed anything for depression, blood pressure, diabetes, heart conditions, or other medication deemed medically necessary, you will have to check them in with our staff upon your arrival. All medication that is approved must be in the correct prescription bottle with your name. Any refills needed will be made and picked up by our staff only. We provide over the counter medication for common needs such as headache (ibuprofen, tylenol), stomach issues (pepto, immodium), heartburn (tums), etc.
A list of common medications that are NOT allowed are any opioid/narcotics (hydrocodone, codeine, fentanyl, etc), suboxone, methadone, benzodiazepines (xanax, klonopin, etc.), trazadone, seroquel, neurotin, buspar, stimulants (adderall, vyvanse, etc), or anything that changes the way you feel. We are not a detox facility and will not wean you off medications either. If you need medically assisted detox, you will need to go to a hospital before you arrive.

During your first 30 days you will have no phone access, except to call your sponsor daily when you get one. This time is important for you to get settled but will also help your family. We cause a lot of sleepless nights and create a lot of anxiety within the lives of our families when we are getting high. This time will give you the focus to begin your recovery, find a job, and get to know your roommates while also giving your family rest and comfort knowing you are in a safe and sober place. You will be allowed to write to only immediate family members and receive mail from them. This will be monitored. After 30 days, you are permitted one 30 minute phone call a week with your immediate family.
After 90 days, you will earn the privilege of having a flip phone only if you are paying your rent, working a full time job, following house rules, and working the steps with a sponsor. You will get a new number and pay for it yourself. No contact with people from your past! You will only be allowed to have limited contact with your family and women in the program. We do check this.
After 5 months, you will earn the privilege of getting your smart phone back only if you are still in good standing with the conditions listed above. You will not be allowed to have the same number nor be on your parents plan. You will have to pay for a phone plan on your own!
After 90 days, you will earn the privilege of having a flip phone only if you are paying your rent, working a full time job, following house rules, and working the steps with a sponsor. You will get a new number and pay for it yourself. No contact with people from your past! You will only be allowed to have limited contact with your family and women in the program. We do check this.
After 5 months, you will earn the privilege of getting your smart phone back only if you are still in good standing with the conditions listed above. You will not be allowed to have the same number nor be on your parents plan. You will have to pay for a phone plan on your own!
When can I have my car?
After 90 days, you will earn the privilege of getting your car only if you are paying your rent, working a full time job, following house rules, working the steps with a sponsor, and can afford to pay your own car insurance payment each month.
If you do not already have a car, you will begin saving from your first paycheck so that you can purchase one during your time here. This is an important part of learning how to be self-sufficient. We will help you develop healthy financial steps to reaching this goal. It is a great feeling of accomplishment!

What if I am in a romantic relationship?
There are to be NO romantic relationships while you are in this house or contact with boyfriends or significant others unless you are married. This is a vital rule of our house. The reality for us is that when we take drugs and alcohol away, the first thing we normally run to is a relationship to give us comfort and make us feel good which causes us to relapse time and time again. You need this time to focus on yourself and your recovery. Anything or anyone you put before it will cost you your sobriety. We have seen it happen over and over again. We promise you, you will survive a year of singleness. If the relationship is meant to be, it will still be there for you when you graduate the program. Take this time to be in a healthy relationship with yourself and to learn to love YOU!
What if I am on probation or have pending legal issues?
We will work with you to make sure all requirements of probation are met through accountability and open communication with probation officers and attorneys. If currently involved in pending legal issues, we will do all that we can to help you through this from providing transportation to court, being an advocate for your recovery before a Judge, writing letters to any interested party regarding your status and progress in our program, etc.
When can I have visits with my family?
For residents with children under the age of 18:
If you have children and your rent is paid, you will be allowed to see your family for the first time after 90 days and every 6 weeks throughout your year in our program. Time for each visit is 2 nights and 1 full day, usually over a weekend from Friday evening to Sunday morning following church. Visits will be based on the desires of the entire family and we will comply with any court stipulations regarding custody. Your first visit must be in Brunswick and any following visit out of town must be approved each time in advance.
For residents without children:
You will be allowed to see your family for the first time after 90 days and every 3 months throughout your year in our program. Time for each visit is 2 nights and 1 full day, usually over a weekend from Friday evening to Sunday morning following church. Your first visit must be in Brunswick and any following visit out of town must be approved each time in advance.
If you have children and your rent is paid, you will be allowed to see your family for the first time after 90 days and every 6 weeks throughout your year in our program. Time for each visit is 2 nights and 1 full day, usually over a weekend from Friday evening to Sunday morning following church. Visits will be based on the desires of the entire family and we will comply with any court stipulations regarding custody. Your first visit must be in Brunswick and any following visit out of town must be approved each time in advance.
